    ED Phonebook -- Search for a person by name, email address, or organization.

    Guide to U.S. Department of Education Programs -- The Guide provides a concise description of over 200 programs administered by the Department, identifies who may apply, and gives the name, telephone number, and email address of the Department office to contact for more information. Information is updated monthly.

    ERIC Database -- The ERIC database, the world's largest source of education information, contains more than 900,000 abstracts of documents and journal articles on education research and practice. The database is updated monthly.

    Database of ED Publications in ERIC -- A searchable bibliographic database of more than 20,000 publications produced or funded by ED since 1980. The database is updated monthly.

    ERIC Calendar of Education-Related Conferences -- The database includes information on over 540 national, regional, and international conferences by conference name, sponsor, date, location, topic, or audience. The database is updated monthly.

    Directory of ERIC Resource Collections -- lists more than 1,000 organizations that provide individuals with access to the ERIC database and related resources. It is designed to help users quickly locate organizations that offer ERIC resources and related services within a geographically short distance.

    Title IV School Codes -- To apply for Federal Student Aid (such as Federal Pell Grants or Federal Stafford Loans) you will have to fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and you will need to furnish the Title IV school codes. This is a search page to help you find the proper codes.

    Closed School Search -- If you believe that a postsecondary school you attended may have closed, you may be able to use this screen to confirm this and to determine the date the school closed. Please note that the closed school list includes only schools that at one time participated in the federal Student Financial Assistance Programs.

Student Financial Assistance

  • User-friendly publications (such as the popular Student Guide to Financial Aid and Funding Your Education) describing federal grant, loan, and work-study programs.

  • Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) -- electronic versions of the FAFSA that you can use to submit your completed application form to ED through the web, by modem, or by mail. (If you have technical questions about the electronic FAFSA, please call 1-800-801-0576).

  • Title IV School Code Search, a convenient way to look up codes for the colleges that you are considering, so that you can enter them in Section H of the FAFSA.

  • A special low interest rate, currently 7.46%, is available for a limited time to eligible borrowers who consolidate their outstanding student loans through the Direct Loan program, if their application is received no later than January 31, 1999. (This interest rate may also be available through some government-guaranteed lenders, although they are not required to offer the low rate.)   • Hope Scholarship and Lifetime Learning Tax Credits which provides all the latest information on the new tax credits for college costs.

  • The Guide to Defaulted Student Loans, designed to help borrowers resolve default situations for loans that have gone into default.

  • OPE Policy Initiatives and Program Data and Information for Financial Aid Professionals which provide official policy and regulatory directives for postsecondary education institutions.

  • Project EASI, a collaborative initiative led by ED and its partners in the higher education community. Project EASI focuses on ways to streamline the financial aid process for our customers.
